Water Powered Cell-Phones could be a Reality by 2010,Samsung

Late last year, Samsung Electro-Mechanics developed a technology that enables mobile devices to be powered with water. Apparently, when a cell phone, for example, is switched on, the water and metal kept inside the phone reacts to produce hydrogen gas. The hydrogen gas then travels to the micro-fuel cell that's equipped on the phone to react with the oxygen inside and power the gadget. The process can generate 3W of power, and can reportedly run a cell phone for 10 full hours--longer than today's average battery life. According to Samsung, it expects water-powered cell phones to enter the market by 2010. Since the technology's nitty-gritty hasn't really been discussed, Engadget conjectures Samsung's process might be similar to HydroPak's. There's not much to go on for now, but I'm remaining optimistic and hope that we really do see water-powered mobile gadgets in a couple of years' time.
